"Can't Make Heads or Tails" 2018 White Charcoal
This piece depicts a 1936 "Buffalo Nickel" leaning against a stack of numerous nickels on my black glass desk. Can't Make Heads or Tails comes from an old saying emphasizing that someone cannot understand something at all. And the symbolism of this title which coincides with the United States Government. Some of the bills, laws, treaties, or statements has always had us Native American's scratching our head, and thinking this exact same thing. I cannot understand what those in power are trying to do. Events throughout our history as a country, could have us easily referring to this term because of many things they've done throughout the years. I've always enjoyed this design that was constructed using 3 Native American's as the models and the Bison on the reverse. The original will be sold with the 2 nickels I used for this concept.
